A memorable weekend has a few essentials: somewhere you are excited to stay, food worth making time for and enough to do when the mood takes you. The real luxury is having them all within easy reach.

Coming soon to Murud, Kaizan Retreats is bringing that idea to life across six acres of the Konkan landscape. With private A-frame cottages, wellness, dining and outdoor activities, the retreat is being designed for couples, families and friends whose holiday plans may differ even when they share a booking.

Here are nine experiences shaping a stay at Kaizan.

1. Stay in an A-frame cottage with room to settle in

Soaring ceilings, warm interiors and windows framing the greenery will give Kaizan’s private A-frame cottages their distinctive character. Inside, a seating area will make room for conversation and quiet mornings; outside, a small sitting space will give your first coffee a rather good address.

The planned accommodation includes Standard, Premium and Royal categories, with private plunge pools for Royal cottages. Whether you are travelling as a couple or bringing the family, your cottage is intended to be a place you enjoy spending time in. Going out can wait until after coffee.

2. Give an entire afternoon to the pool

A few leisurely laps, a spell on the sun deck and another dip because the water looks inviting: some itineraries write themselves.

Kaizan’s swimming pool and sun deck will put time by the water at the heart of the resort experience. With your cottage and dining spaces within the same retreat, it will be easy to move from breakfast to swimming to a long lunch. Keep an afternoon free for it. This is one appointment worth allowing to overrun.

3. Get to know the Konkan through its food

A destination becomes more memorable when you have tasted something of it. Kaizan’s farm-to-table dining will bring seasonal ingredients, farm produce and locally inspired flavours into the stay.

Breakfasts, lunches and dinners will offer time to gather around the table and explore the region through its cooking. Food will have its own place in the holiday, alongside the scenery and activities. Leave room in the schedule and, preferably, for another course.

4. Make time for massages, steam and sauna

The spa and wellness experience will bring together full-body hot-stone massages, restorative therapies, a steam room and a sauna. It is an invitation to give part of the day to warmth, stillness and an unhurried treatment.

Bookend an active morning with a slower afternoon, or make wellness the main event. When the Konkan rain puts on a performance outside, time at the spa will have particular appeal. Your most pressing commitment can be arriving for your massage.

5. Find an activity for every kind of energy

An ATV track for the adventurous. Cricket nets with a bowling machine for anyone carrying unfinished sporting ambitions. A children’s play area for climbing, exploring and inventing games that require very little explanation to other children.

Kaizan’s planned activities will give families and friends several ways to spend time together, with room to follow individual interests too. Take on an outdoor challenge, practise your batting or cheer from the sidelines. Someone will inevitably want a rematch; allow for that.

6. Follow a trail without watching the clock

Kaizan’s nature trails will wind through greenery, past water bodies and into quieter corners of the retreat. Walk out in the morning, listen for birds and take time to notice what you would usually pass by.

These walks will offer an easy way to spend more of the day outdoors, whether you prefer company or a little time to yourself. There is pleasure in a walk whose main purpose is simply being on it. Your step count can take the credit later.

7. Include your pet in the getaway

For many families, the holiday begins with one important question: can the dog come?

Pet-friendly stays are part of the Kaizan vision, making room for guests who want their companion included in the trip. It is a thoughtful addition to a retreat built around nature, time outdoors and being with your favourite company. Some of that company happens to arrive on four paws.

8. Let sunset lead you to the bar and clubhouse

After a day outdoors, the bar and clubhouse will offer a place to gather for drinks, music, games and conversation. Begin around sunset and let the evening develop around the people at your table.

For couples, it might be a drink before dinner. For friends, a game that becomes unexpectedly competitive. For everyone, it will be somewhere to enjoy the evening within the retreat. The morning’s adventures should provide enough conversation to get things started.

9. Leave time to discover Murud and Janjira Fort

A stay at Kaizan will also place you in a region worth exploring. Make time for Murud’s coast, the surrounding countryside and the history of Murud Janjira Fort, then return to the retreat for the rest of your day.

For inspiration, read our guide to a Murud Janjira weekend getaway. Before visiting the fort, explore the story of Murud Janjira, the Siddis and Shivaji Maharaj. A little history makes the view considerably more interesting.
